The Spirit of "Someone Loves"

I'm not sure what this picture reminds you of. Maybe it's hope. Maybe it's life. But for me, it's the spirit of "someone loves"! Taking the time to invest in someone's life by giving can create such beautiful results!
Now, the background story of this plant. After a couple of months of working at my current job, I noticed this little plant in the corner, dying. So, I cut it back and started to water it. Lo and behold, new green leaves started sprouting! Hooray! Now, when I'm wondering whether or not I should give of myself to help another, I will think of my little plant and realize that it will be worth it!

Give to give

I love Nat's story about the coffee.  Something opens up when we give to each other.  It's contagious...it can be more virulent than the flu.  It infects every realm of society.

I've been a witness to giving parties where people bring some of the most precious things to them and give them away to other people who need them.  And in return these people receive things that are beyond their comprehension.  Pretty sweet.  I've seen people recieve digital slr's and lap tops, clothing and shoes, money, and each time someone receives something it creates an opportunity for them to give to someone else.

It's a beautiful chain reaction that takes place, breaking mindsets of poverty or not having enough.  And it produces an atmosphere where giving allows people to become greater versions of themselves and greater givers.  They become people who long to give and to help others.

So my challenge to anyone who might be reading this, with whatever you have, or more than you have give something to someone today or this week.  Put thought into it.  Give generously and give good gifts.  I believe that when we treat each other this way it opens up the way for the economy to prosper as well; we are the people that make up the economy of this country: let's be a people of change.

Just Because

I work at an English Language school for international students and today one of the students brought me a latte! Just because! It really made my day!

Negative vs. Positive

As people cut you off as you drive to work and give you an attitude in the checkout line, it can sometimes be difficult to see the good side of humanity. Sometimes it can be beneficial to take time to remember the nice things people have done for you, even if that person was a perfect stranger!

My goal this week is to report on something nice that someone did for me and also something that I did for someone else.
